Zack ran his hands over my shoulders and down my back. “Enough about me. I want to talk about you and all this smooth, creamy skin with not a mark on it. Part of me wants to leave it flawless and another part of me wants to take your virginity.”
I laughed, “I think we’re way past that. I haven’t been a virgin for a long time.”
He pulled me to his lips and kissed me, “Thank God for that, but I wasn’t speaking sexually. I meant that I wanted to be the first to permanently mark you.”
“I’ve already been permanently marked,” I said with melancholy.
Zack raised his eyebrow. “I’ve kissed and touched every inch of your body and I haven’t seen anything, unless it’s behind your ear or somewhere else equally illusive.” He playfully checked behind my ears just to be sure.
I swatted his hand away. “You can look all you want, but you’ll never find what you’re searching for.” I sat up, straddled his legs and put my hand to my chest, “My tattoos are here. Everyone I’ve ever loved has left me and each one of them has left permanent scars on my heart. So, although you can’t see them, I do have tattoos. I have a tattooed heart.”
